On Sunday October 10, we did not have regular church meetings because it was General Conference week here. Meg, Erin, Laura, Lien and I were home that evening and decided to take a walk to the park. Instead of a peaceful stroll, we stumbled upon a street lined with tons of people, and TONS of fireworks. That's when we remembered it was 10-10, Double Ten Day, Taiwan's National Holiday...party on! We arrived just minutes before the parade began. It may have been the loudest, craziest, most chaotic hour of my life (if you overlook teaching every day, haha)...this kind of firework madness would never be allowed back home! Fireworks were going off up and down the street during the entire parade, just a few feet away from all the people. It sounded and looked like the whole town was exploding; we literally had ashes raining down on us (listen for the screaming in the video)! Definitely a "Taiwan is Chaos" moment. Anyway, enjoy another small taste of my current hometown: Fengyuan, Taiwan!!!
