Special Meeting

Tonight we were incredibly blessed with the opportunity to attend a special meeting with Elaine S. Dalton and Rosemary M. Wixom. Sister Dalton is the Young Women General President and Sister Wixom is the Primary General President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These incredible women have been in Taiwan attending youth conferences, training leaders, and visiting the members here. It was a beautiful experience to learn from them and to share in the sweet and uplifting spirit they brought. Both Sister Wixom and Sister Dalton greeted us and shook our hands as they entered the chapel. Sister Dalton said to me, "We blondes have to stick together in Taiwan!"
We were especially grateful for translators tonight! Not only were we able to have the Chinese speakers' words translated to English, but because the rest of the people in attendance spoke Chinese, there was a translator for Sister Dalton and Sister Wixom's talks...which meant more time for us to take notes! I wish I could share everything from the meeting, because it was wonderful! Sister Dalton spoke about focusing on the temple, and the importance of Personal Progress. She asked those who had completed their Personal Progress to stand. I was able to stand with my roommates, and Sister Dalton invited Meg and another sister to share their experiences with the audience! It was so powerful to hear their testimonies, and to ponder how much the Young Women program helped to strengthen my own testimony. Sister Wixom spoke about children and family, and the joy of the Plan of Salvation. Their husbands, Brother Dalton and Brother Wixom, were also asked to share their testimonies. Sister Wisom showed a short video that portrayed the Savior's visit to America. I felt Jesus Christ's love so strongly as I thought about all He has done for me, and how blessed I am to have His gospel in my life...that knowledge really is everything.
After the meeting, we were able to visit with Brother and Sister Wixom, and Brother and Sister Dalton. Their happiness and love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ just radiates, and we truly felt the love that our church leaders have for each of us. Sister Dalton spoke with the four of us for a few minutes. She gave us a hug, and as we visited she told us that the Lord inspired us to come here at this time, and that we are being prepared for future experiences. She told us to pay attention to the things we are learning while in Taiwan. She also said that we may be teaching English, but we are also teaching the Gospel through the light the children see in our eyes. I felt the truth of her words in my heart. I am so grateful we had the opportunity to attend the meeting and feel the joy and peace of the Spirit tonight. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true!

  1. Not only are you having a wonderful teaching experience but wonderful spritual experiences also. To think you have to go half way around the world to share these experiences with all these wonderful people when they live in your own backyard. I am so happy that you take time to feel of their spirit!
